Welcome.

I'm Geoff Coates. By day I work as an art director for Capcom Studios in Vancouver. I've been working in the video game industry in Vancouver for 20 years, and I love it. By night (and ridiculously early morning), though, I'm Sadochicken: drawer of people with dis proportionally large noses.

This site's basically a collection of all of the work I like to do outside of work, including tutorials on my YouTube channel. You can also now purchase some of my prints in the shop! 

So, Why SadoChicken?

Like most things in my life, it came about by accident. 

I had included a sadomasochistic chicken in the corner of a drawing I'd done a while back (because, why not, right?). 

A friend, who, if we're being honest, is a little drawn to the Barnyard S&M scene, picked up on it right away. So I started adding the chicken to a bunch of drawings and it just seemed like a logical fit for a website name. Mainly because nobody had taken it yet.

My style's constantly evolving, in increments I'm sure only I can see. My long term goals for my art are fluid, but in general, what I want is a broad body of work. I want to try new things, I want to stretch myself creatively at all times. .

I really don't know how else to define myself here; Happily married man? Motorcycle enthusiast? Fervent jai alai supporter? Yes yes and sure, why not.
